ALL ABOUT SPARES

As we approach the upcoming curling season with our new website, several members have asked questions about sparing. How do we indicate that we are available to spare? Where do we sign up? Etc, etc, etc.

Well, good news! The new system has a slick spares module that provides a wide range of functions both for those wishing to spare as well as for those looking for a spare.

First, how do I indicate that I’m available to spare?

After you’ve logged in to the website using your Username and Password, go to “Member Profile” under the Member menu. Then, go to the Spares/Substitute Details tab. Click that you want to be included on the “spares/substitute” list. From there you can specify for which positions and leagues you’re willing to spare. You can modify these preferences at any time. I would encourage members who wish to spare to fill in this information at their earliest convenience.

How to I indicate that I need a spare?

Under the same Member dropdown menu, there is the “Find a Spare” tab. Clicking on this will bring you to the “Request a Spare/Substitute, Player or Team”. This page does much more just identifying your spare requirements for a league game.

You can post for the following:

• Post your requirements for a spare by league and date.

• Post your need for a player for your team by league or event/bonspiel.

• Post that you’re looking for a team to join by league or event/bonspiel.

For example, you’re looking for a team to join for the Tuesday afternoon fixed team draw. Simply pick the appropriate dropdown choices and voila!

The active Requests will pop up when you first log in as a member. As well, the spare posts that you've created will be listed on the Find a Spare page. For illustration purposes, I’ve created a dummy spares request for the Monthly Mixed League.
