Curling is a wonderful sport that we are sure your children are going to enjoy. Both of our youth programs, Little Rocks and Bantams are led by qualified coaches to introduce your children to curling in a safe and FUN way!
This information sheet provides everything you need to know to get your child started in curling.
Bursary Application
The McCluskey Group of Tim Horton and the Optimist Club of Arnprior have kindly donated money to the Arnprior Curling Club to cover the registration fees of 12 kids in our Youth Programs for the 2024/25 season. These programs cover ages 7-18 years old.
To apply for one of these bursaries:
What does my child need to wear?
The curling rink is meant to be cool, not cold, therefore layers are best. A good fleece as a top layer works perfectly. It is imperative that your child bring a clean pair of sneakers. The curling ice will get damaged if outdoor shoes are worn on its surface.
Beginning in 2017 helmets are recommended for all youths per direction of Canadian Curling Association.
How do I get involved as a parent?
We encourage all parents to stay and watch their child develop their curling skills throughout the season. If you feel that you would like to help out “on ice” as a parent volunteer, please let us know! The curling club is run completely by volunteers…..we always appreciate any help that you are willing to give us. Once the season starts, we will hand out a rotating snack schedule to Little Rock parents; we thank you in advance for helping feed some hungry curlers!
Is there any fundraising involved?
We are very fortunate to have the McCluskey Group's Tim Hortons and Optimist Club of Arnprior as our official sponsors. So please support our local tim Horton franchises and the outstanding work of the Optimist Club of Arnprior as a way to thank them for their continued generosity!
In our effort to focus on good communication, we will send home flyers as necessary to keep you informed about events coming up and so forth.
Who do I contact if I have a question or a concern?
Feel free to ask any of our instructors questions while you are at the curling club.
We hope that you and your child enjoy this upcoming curling season. Our program is based on fun and fitness and as you will soon discover, curling is a very social sport. You may even decide to give it a try yourselves…we always welcome new members!
