Club Events Update

Robbie Burns Dinner
For the first time the club held a traditional Robbie Burns Dinner
organized and hosted by our very own Brian Gillespie. Guests enjoyed
pre-dinner performances by Highland Dancers and the Calliope Choir of Arnprior.
The Haggis was piped in and the "Address to the Haggis" was given. A
delicious catered meal of roast beef, neeps, tatties and salad was
served. After dinner some beautiful Scottish songs were enjoyed and the
Immortal Memory speech was given. To end a circle was formed and Auld Lang Syne
was sung. This event was enjoyed by all and was so successful it could well
become an annual ACC event!
Novice Spiel
The Second Annual Novice Spiel was held February 8th at the Arnprior Curling Club. Featuring 16 teams from around the region, including 5 from the ACC, the day showcased newer curlers in fast-paced 4 end games. Between games, the teams were treated to a delicious lunch catered by Jay Dog.
The 5 ACC teams had a very strong showing, going 11-4 overall with all teams garnering at least one win and two teams going 3-0. Well played to all!
The top spot was captured by the Shalla-Hill Team consisting of Dylan Martin, Kelsey Shalla-Hill, Phillip McLaughlin and Danika Thomsen. They went 3-0 but had to beat the team from Metcalfe in a playoff for the title. Congratulations!

Doubles Spiel
The club celebrated Curling Day in Canada on February 22nd by hosting a Doubles Spiel. 8 teams vied for the title of top doubles team. At the end of the day, it was a family affair with Brian Wallace teaming up with his son in-law, Jordan, to take top honours. Kudos to Mike Imbeau for putting on a fun event!

Presidents’ Challenge Cup presented by Aspira Island View Retirement Living
The club with be hosting teams from Huntley, Almonte and Richmond curling clubs for a 3-day bonspiel (7-9 Mar). Kelly Neumann and her organizing committee have been hard at work for months, ensuring that the visiting clubs will have a memorable experience. Featuring 40 teams in 7 different categories, these is a fantastic opportunity to watch some top notch competitive curling and cheer on the ACC team as they strive to come out as overall champions. St Paddy's Day Party
On March 14th, come out and celebrate St Patrick’s Day at the ACC. Caroline O’Farrell has put together a full evening of fun, music and food! Cold Bear ManSpiel
On April 5th, it’s the boys’ turn to howl with the 3rd annual ManSpiel sponsored by Cold Bear. This popular “skins” event always sells out so register early, a testament to the outstanding efforts of Bethany Braun and her team who always put on a first-class affair.
