Another Great Chili Spiel

48 people came out to the Patch for the annual Chili Spiel and the evening was a great success! 32 curlers were on the ice for 6 ends of hot and spicy curling while the non-curlers enjoyed games in the Patch organized by Caroline.

After working up an appetite, everyone participated in the chili tasting carefully testing out their palettes with 8 different chilis made by Calvin, Dave McLean, Karen, Gary, Scott, Leanne R., Janine and Alex.

It was a close contest! Scott won with 11 votes for his "Oh, DEER me" chili followed closely with 10 votes for Calvin's "All Beefed Up" version. The remaining 6 chilis received between 2 and 4 votes each and all were thoroughly enjoyed! Once again Dave McLean generously donated the prize for the winner, a beautiful hand-carved goblet resembling a curling stone.

And then there was the Karaoke ... people sang their hearts out well into the evening!

Many thanks to our curling DJ, Jay C. - who donated his time and sound system which truly upped the experience from last year. Lyrics were on both big screen tvs and it was fabulous having amazing sound along with background music for the entire evening!

We of course couldn't have run this without the additional help from Don A. and Chris with the ice, Richard, Dwight and Kelsey who volunteered at the bar, Cathy and Michele who took care of registration and setting up the teams, John who helped set up, Caroline for organizing the games for the non-curlers, Andrew and Kelly who provided the Karaoke tracks, Karen and Kelly who helped with clean-up and Richard & Dwight who helped out Jay pack up all his equipment at the end of the evening. Amazing team effort indeed!
